PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions and Support
Dear Parents,
Schools are successful when they help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. For this to happen it is important that we have a safe learning environment. By setting forth clear behavioral expectations and explicitly teaching students about those expectations, our goal is to continue to have a positive learning environment for students.
We are excited that Dade Elementary School participates in Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS is a system for improving student behavior. It is used with all students across all areas in our school (classrooms, lunchroom, restrooms, playground, and hallways) to help create a safe and effective learning environment. DES is committed to teach, reinforce, and acknowledge appropriate student behaviors. At all times, staff and students are expected to:
"STRIVE TO DO YOUR BEST, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, ALWAYS BE SAFE, AND RESPECT PEOPLE AND PROPERTY"
Positive behavior will also be encouraged through our school wide Star Bucks reward system.
DES encourages 10 Positive Behaviors or Character Traits through our Character Education Program:

It is my hope that we will all continue to work together to ensure that PBIS is successful and meaningful here at DES. Families, please encourage your child(ren) to engage in positive behaviors and reach for greatness everyday.
Sincerely,
