Dear DES Family and Friends,
This will be another busy week at DES. In addition to the curriculum development that is the basis for daily classroom instruction, we will be celebrating several additional activities and events.
Monday, November 12th, we welcome military personnel - both veterans and those currently serving - to come and have breakfast with us. We want to recognize and thank each of you for your commitment and dedication to protect and preserve our freedom.
School Council Meeting- 4:30
Tuesday - November 13th
PTO Meeting - 6:00pm in the upper gym - Kindergarten Classes will present the program.
Cookie Dough Delivery
Friday - November 16th
Annual Thanksgiving Day Lunch - we look forward to seeing each of you. If you are planning on eating lunch with your child, please sign in at the table located in the front lobby and wait for your child to come to the cafeteria. We ask that parents not go to the classrooms to pick up students - hopefully this will alleviate confusion in the halls and unnecessary disruption of classes. You may contact your child's teacher or the front office to check on your child's lunch time. If you have multiple children in our school and would like to eat with all of them - we will work with you on adjusting lunch times - please just let us know. We want to make sure that we maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our students - so please be patient with us. Please park only in designated parking areas. We ask that you not park on the grass or that you not block other vehicles. This is a great day at DES and we look forward to having a wonderful day, but we must all be considerate of others as they come and go between 10:30-1:00. We want to especially thank our cafeteria workers and custodians for their hard work and effort in the planning and preparation of this event. They are responsible for making it such a great success.
We have two PTO fundraisers that are taking place this month
Nov.9th-Nov.14th - Discount Cards will be sold for $10.00 each - your child brought home the brochure explaining the process. This is a great project and the proceeds will go for computer resources and a new sound system (which is a great need).
Nov.30th - Art Works - you are invited to an art show which will feature the work of each of our students. The students have each created an original production which will be matted and framed and on display. On the evening of Nov.30th, parents and family members will be able to purchase the work at a very nominal fee. These will make great Christmas gifts and lasting memories.
November 21st-November 25th - Thanksgiving Break (No School).
November 27th - Tuesday - Brenda Wheeler is planning a Volunteer Training Workshop - she will be sending out more information and details concerning this event. Please put this date on your calendar. This is a great opportunity for you to in involved and to receive some valuable training. As always - I want to thank Brenda for her dedication and commitment to the students, parents, faculty, and staff of Dade Elementary School. She truly is a key asset to our school.
READ WITH YOUR CHILD DAILY - RESEARCH SHOWS A POSITIVE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE ACTIVE ACADEMIC INVOLVEMENT OF PARENTS AND SUCCESSFUL CONTINUED STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.
Thanks for all you do- we look forward to seeing you at DES.
