Dear DES Family and Friends,
Thanks to all of you who participated in the Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 20th. The turnout was great, and the conferences were very productive. Research shows that students whose parents are actively involved in their child.s education have a much greater chance of completing high school and continuing on in post-secondary educational pursuits. Elementary school children want their parents to take an interest in what they are doing in school and in most cases enjoy having their parents visit and volunteer at school. If for some reason you were unable to meet with your child's teacher on Thursday, we would be more than happy to schedule a meeting; just contact the teacher or the school office. I want to apologize for the late busses, which caused some confusion and conference delays. I thought that we had covered all of the changes and had made the necessary adjustments, but unfortunately there were some modifications that we didn.t anticipate. Hopefully we have learned from the errors and will adjust accordingly next fall. Again, thank you for your patience and know that our primary goal and commitment is to make sure that all of the children get home safe and secure.
We will be in school on Friday, March 28th, to make-up one of the days we were out of school because of inclement weather.
March 31st - April 4th is Spring Break week - we will be out of school and the office will be closed. We will return to our regular school schedule on Monday, April 7th.
We hope that everyone has a restful and enjoyable Spring Break.
