Dear DES Family and Friends,

As we begin the second half of the 2007-2008 school year, I want to thank each of you for your support and encouragement and would also like to urge you to continue to take an active role in the academic progress of your children. It is our responsibility to promote educational excellence and to motivate our children to work hard to achieve success. We are part of a global society that is changing rapidly and we must ensure that we provide our children with the necessary tools to persevere. Dade Elementary School prides itself in modeling its vision of - "Hand In Hand-We Learn Together" and in 2008, we want to extend a special invitation to all of our families and friends to expand your role and to volunteer on a regular basis at DES. With 1800+ parents, the possibilities are endless. Join us in making DES even better.

Tuesday, January 8th - PTO Meeting - 6:00pm in the cafeteria. The 4th grade will be presenting the program.

Tuesday, January 15th - Parent Writing Workshop - 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Sandwiches, chips, and drinks will be provided- bring your favorite dessert. Join other parents in learning about the state writing goals and assessment process. This will be a very informative and beneficial meeting.

Talk with your children about what they are learning. Check to see that they are completing homework, reading (at least 20 minutes) nightly, and are working on math skills. These are all activities that can and should be a part of the DAILY family routine.

WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION????
