I graduated from Pisgah High School in Pisgah, AL. I come from a background full of teachers. My grandmother, both parents, many aunts/uncles, my younger brother, and his wife are all educators. I am also married to an educator. Teaching is my life, and I love it! I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a degree in Early Elementary Education, and later received endorsements to teach gifted students from West Georgia College. I received a Masters Degree in Education from UTC, and continue to attend professional learning opportunities as they become available.

I began my teaching career in Scottsboro, Alabama working in an aftercare program at an elementary school. The next year, I came to Dade County. I started working here in 1993 as a teacher helping students that were struggling to keep up through a program known as SIA. Two years later, I taught first grade. After teaching in first grade a few years, I came to teach in Kindergarten. Teaching Kindergarten is my passion! Watching the progress children make in this one year is amazing and is why I love being an educator.

I am married to Robert Gibson, elementary PE coach at Davis Elementary School. I have four step children, ages 23 to 14, and a daughter, Jaiden, 7. Jaiden is in first grade at DES.
